Staying at Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra Golf and Spa was a truly laid back experience. Although this resort is an excellent choice for families with kids, it offers plenty of privacy for couples, or for solo travelers, having “silent zones” at the pool for example. It has the biggest pool in Thailand and the premises are beautiful, green and very elegant. It is very good for a relaxed vacation yet with easy access to the vibrant city Ao Nang, or the world famous islands Phi Phi and James Bond. Then, Railay beach, one of the most beautiful in the world, can be reached quite easily.
Staying at Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra Golf and Spa Thailand
∼ The Hotel ∼
Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra Golf and Spa is located on Klong Muang Beach, 26 km away of Krabi Airport and 49 of Phuket Airport. The colorful city Ao Nang si only 10 kilometers away and the hotel offer free shuttles a few times day to the city.
The beach is only a few steps away and from here you can take a long tail boat to some amazing islands. I admired some amazing sunsets in here: the fihermens boats make the scenery very romantic and timeless.
The resort had a Golf Course, a nice SPA Center and also a kids club. The welcome is beautiful, in piano sounds, with orchids garlands, refreshments and lots of smiles.
∼ The rooms ∼
The rooms at Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra Golf and Spa are lovely, decorated in Victorian style, with teak wood floors. Very elegant. Some have sea view, or pool direct access. I loved my terrace with the view to a beautiful garden and lots of palms. We had L’Occitane cosmetics and plenty. So the bottled water, that was complimentary and refiled every day. I even had 3 bottles in the bathroom, to wash my teethes with filtered water.
The, the room had everything to have a perfect stay, LCD TV with many programs, iron, iron board etc. Everything in a 5 star hotel. And a very good WiFi throughout the property.
∼ Food and drinks ∼
The main restaurant, White Lotus, serves international dishes, along with Thai and Indian. Poda (the pool bar) offers barbecue and there is also a pizzeria. We had a Mediteranean Night dinner in White Lotus and every day they make something else, different specialties. There are: Asian Nights, Bolywood Nights, BBQ Seafood Nigts, Polynesian Nights and so on. There are all in the Activity Guide each guest receives upon arrival.
∼ Pool and Beach ∼
The pool is as said the biggest in Thailand (75,350-ft², 7000 sqm) lagoon-style and with a very nice pool bar. There are silent zones for the adults that want to stay with no kids around. Yet, there are plenty zones for kids and a TV by the pool that was very much appreciated as far as I saw. Kids land. There is plenty space for everyone. Plenty of sun beds as well towels and a bar.
The beach is public. This mean that is not managed by the hotel. As in all the public beaches, jellyfish problems may occur, depend of the season. Anyway the beach is lovely, with fine sand and just 10 minutes walking down there are plenty of beach bars and restaurants, that serve delicious local food. There is no Pad Thai and other specialties in Thailand as tasty as the local ones.
Just stroll the beach at sunset, it is peaceful and magnificent.
