5 Traditional Places In Corfu Island You Gotta Try
Traditional Bar Corfu Panorama Agios Markos, Ipsos
Ipsos may be one of the most vibrant party resorts in Corfu. But when you go to Agios Markos, just 3 kilometres up, something amazing happens: you will totally relax. And enjoy the moment. And wanna to stay more.
I discovered Panorama bar in a day when I needed to hike a little. Literally I felt the need to walk for kilometres and make pictures and walk again. When I first passed Agios Markos village, the whole place was asleep. It was the siesta time. Panorama bar was close, obviously.
A few hours back, I find myself in front of the same for, just that now was broad open and invited me in. Well, the dog was still sleeping, though. I walked around to not disturb him and I chilled out immediately!
Panorama bar is a truly gem. The view is amazing! And the place so calm and chill. Of course Panorama bar is a family business passed from one generation to another, Spiros, the owner is extremely gentle and welcoming. Well, he is a little bit reserved, or shy, but very kind. You gotta try this place!
Tasty and simple foods in Panorama Bar
The menu is simple, with home cooked meals, salads, meat, some sea fruits, sweets. Beers, wines, other spirits, lemonade, coffees. There is not much diversity, but all is tasty and the portions are huge and very very cheap. I couldn’t believe it.
Try for: the view and cosy laidback vibe. And tasty Greek food.
Where: Ipsos exit to Barbati, Kassiopi. Here is a cross road. You go up to Agios Markos and 3 kilometres away will find Panorama bar (the only one in the village) in your left.

Traditional Tavern Corfu: Tripa Kinopiastes Village
Tripa Tavern is the oldest tavern in Corfu island and has the best music and tasty traditional Corfiot dishes. Yet: it is very very simple, apart for the vintage interior. Here you will see tons of pictures with the very famous guests Tripa Tavern has in its long history.
Yes: Prime Ministers, Presidents, actors, singers, they all enjoyed the same simple menu and place. And the music… Tripa Duo are too much. The best tavern music I gave listen in 7 months I have spent in Greece altogether, in several places.
Try: Pastisada, lamb roast, cold cuts, the house Greek yogurt. dance.
Do: Visit Tripa Tavern for a Greek night
Where: in Kinopiastes mountain village, a must-see place while vacationing in Nausicaa’s island.
Spiros Tavern Paleokastritsa
Where you can find the best roasted meat in Corfu? At the Spiros tavern in Paleokastritsa. If you are a foodie, you may visit the place more than once, everything is D E L I C I O U S.
My favourites: roasted lamb and chicken, stuffed calamari (with sea fruits), soup, grilled calamari. And some other stuffs. I am totally drooling only when I think of this place! As I have spent one month in the studios across the street, I have tried a lot of Spiros Tavern dishes!
Spiros Tavern is big, with lots of tables and warm staff, many from the extended family.
Where: close to the entrance in Paleokastritsa, when coming from Corfu town. The tavern is on your left. Put it in Google maps it is very very easy to find.
Agni And Nikolas Tavernas in Agni Bay
Agni is a hidden gem! The connoisseurs come here to dine with their boats or with a taxi boat. In Agni harbour/beach there are two tavern, both wonderful.
The food (fish and sea fruits) are some of the best in the island. Lots of specialities and of course other dishes as well. And the atmosphere in here reminded me so much of Mala beach in Cote d’Azur. Even with the gravel beach. The same Joie de Vivre, but a la Greque.
Imagine yourself in a nice tavern surrounded by green vegetation and hills, in a secluded bay. And a harbour full of catamarans and yachts and fishing boats. Listening to the waves and Greek music in sourdine. And some extremely delicious food. In huge plates! Because we are in Greece and the ”gourmet” applies only for the taste, not for the size.
Nikolas Tavern is also famous for the roasted meat!
Traditional Places In Corfu Island: Sunset Taverna Krini Village
A quiet family taverna, with Diapondia islands view. One of the best places in Corfu island to admire the sunset. I love this place! Like Panorama bar, it is open year round. Locals from Corfu come here every day in the winter time, to mingle and to well… enjoy the time off the crazy summer months.
I discovered this place when I hiked from Paleokastritsa to Angelokastro. The Angels castle is one of the 3 Byzantine defending castles that we can still admire today and it was an amazing July very hot day. Hiking for hours, for about 7 kilometres up and the same down was incredible.
So after hiking for probably 6 kilometres, I saw this place! I didn’t stopped right away, but when I got back, a few hours later. It is the kind of place you want to stay longer. And relax. The same vibe as in Panorama Bar.
Loved the Sunset Restaurant, the view, the food – traditional Greek plates, very very tasty. great sweets as well!
