Tripa Tavern was opened in 1936 by Spyros Anyfantis and is in the same family ever since. Moreover, Kinopiastes is a wonderful mountain village, one of the most beautiful on the island. So let’s see what you can see, do and eat at Tripa and around the village:

Immediately after you enter Tripa Tavern, you will see that is a special place. You can admire a lot of vintage objects and bottles of wine and can check the walls to see pictures of the famous people that visited this place.

First of all, manyHead of States, like the famous Constantine Karamanlis, Greece President or the French President Francois Mitterrand, both during their mandates. Furthermore, a lot of actors and billionaires: Jane Fonda, Aristotel Onassis, Anthony Quinn, Sofia Loren. And many more.

Outside is the terrace, where you can enjoy the Greek shows during the summer time. The music is fantastic, Duo Tripa being very talented artists.

While the live music is amazing, the dancers are also professional dancers and do a great show. They invite the people to join the party and learn a few steps. It is very funny and is that Greek magic that brings people of all ages together. And the kids very much enjoy the show as well!

Food in Tripa Tavern – the best pastisada

Tripa tavern is a very traditional place. As a result, there are few preparations, all specific to Corfiot cuisine. There is not much of variety, yet everything is super delicious and premium quality.

For the Greek-night, in Tripa Tavern you can have the fix-price menu. This summer (2017)  the menu included maze: greek sausages, salami, Greek salad, tzatziki and feta cheese. Then, the main dishes: spit roasted lamb, fries and pastisada, which is pasta with tomato sauce and spicy beef. The dessert is made of Greek yogurt with honey and fruits.

Being a traditional tavern, you can only have still water with the house wine, both delicious. And ouzo. Upon request, you can have others too, not included in the menu.

There are other dishes as well and you can visit the tavern and have an A la Carte menu.

Kinopiastes village

Kinopiastes is one of the most beautiful traditional villages in Corfu. On its narrow streets, you will find a lot of venetian style beautiful colorful buildings, 17 century. And hidden squares, along with the only Olives Museum in Corfu island.

20 meters away of Tripa Tavern you will find the village biggest square with the beautiful Panagia church, 18 century. And many taverns, full of locals and tourists alike. The view is amazing, with green valleys, the sea, colorful houses, olive trees and cypresses.

Then, in the village you can visit Agia Paraskevi Monastery*, that dates back to the 17th century. Here are the relics (hand) of the Saint Paraschievi from Tempi and the nouns do get them out for visitors and pilgrims.

*In Orthodox Christian Church, there is not a difference of name, you will call Monastery for both nouns and monks places. There is not Convent therm as used by Catholic Christians.

How to reach Kinopiastes Village and Tripa Tavern

Kinopiastes is 10 kilometers away of Corfu town, the capital of the island and 3 from Gastouri village.

By car: you can arrive from Corfu town, Agios Gordis, Benitses or Gastouri village (where is the Achillion, Elisabeth Empress Summer Palace).

By bus: Blue bus no. 5 connects Corfu with Kinopiastes village. Also some green buses that stop here.
